Elly is stable.
Thanks be to God that Elly is stable now. She had a rough night last night. Her vitals were high and she had very little output as far as her urine.
Around 1 am, she started stabilizing. Her heart rate got back to the normal 14o's it was at the 190's. She also put out 20 cc's of urine and she started showing signs of waking up. Her blood started coming back as normal and things began to take a turn for the better.
I went to see her and to my joy, she looked wonderful. She was puffy but not overly so. She was wide awake and looked so peaceful much more so than ever before. I sang to her and held her little head and she seemed to quite enjoy this.
So far, no signs of infections and they turned down the respirator settings. Thank you so much for your prayers!!!
Now, there is a saying at the NICU.... You can not trust a preemie. This means, that while I am very happy that all is well now, I can't afford to ride this feeling too long because things could change very quickly. She is still at risk of developing a very serious and at times deadly intestinal infection which ravages the child. This infection comes on suddenly and swiftly it is called NET. I have been at the NICU when perfectly healthy babies get infected with this infection and die from one day to the next. The closer Elly gets to 36-37 weeks the less the chances are that she will develop this infection. This infection scares me more than anything else because I have seen what it does to babies. It was through this experience that I learned not to get too happy even if things seem to be going well. This deadly infection attacks too swiftly.
While I rejoice at the fact that Elly is doing well today and I hope for a day in which I bring my baby home, I ask you to continue praying with me that nothing deadly or serious ifects her and that she continue to progress in her health.
Thank you so much for your love and prayers.
